20th January 2025 Newsletter
Hi all,
Not the most auspicious start to 2025 for me I'm afraid! Apologies for the last few week's class cancellations! I was proper poorly sick with what I suspect was flu! Gave me the chance to catch up on some good TV though and now I'm back and fighting fit! 2025 can only get better from here!
š¤ šValentines Line Dancingšš¤
Following the wonderful success of our Christmas Line Dancing session, Iām thrilled to announce a special Valentineās Line Dancing event on Friday, 7th February, at St. Helens Primary School, Alveston.
This time, weāll have 85 minutes of line dancing, set to country versions of your favorite love songs. The longer session will give us more time to learn the dances, and perhaps even revisit some if we fancy! Despite it being valentines themed, you don't need a partner, it will be exactly the same as the Christmas one!
Details:
When: Friday, 7th February. 6pm (just 1 spot remaining) and 7:35pm (lots of spaces left)
Where: St. Helens Primary School, Alveston
Duration: 85 minutes of dancing fun
Theme: Country or love-themed fancy dress encouraged (but not required!)
To reserve your spot, head to my bookings page here: https://www.samhutchinsonfitness.com/book-online
I'm also considering doing an additional Wednesday evening one, so if you can't make the Friday one, but would be interested in a Wednesday one, drop me a quick message so I can get an idea of numbers that might be interested!
Looking forward to another lively and fun-filled session with you all!
š Save the Dates!š
Here are a couple of dates for your diary!
2nd May - Cancer Research Broadway Burlesque and Bellinis - come and fundraise for Cancer Research whilst releasing your inner west-end star and discovering your more sensual side with our fabulous guest presenter Arabella Sparkles! Booking not open yet, but put the date in your diary so you don't miss out!
21st June - Alveston Community Events Village Dance. A few of you came with me to the Barn Dance they did in 2023 and it was an awesome night. I'm not involved in the organising of this event, but I will hopefully be getting a group together to go so again, put it in your diary so you don't miss out. As it stands I have theatre tickets for the 21st June, but I'm trying to change them!
šāāļøThornbury Rotary Club Swimathonš
This isn't for me as I can swim about as well as a brick, but saw this and thought some of the swimmers amongst you might be interested and might want to put a team together? Copied in from an email Mark (who organises the event) sent me. If anyone facies putting a team together message me and I can forward all the relevant entry forms etc.
Each year Thornbury Rotary Club organises a Swimarathon event in early March at Thornbury Leisure Centre. This is a fun, community event involving hundreds of local people and raises money for many local charities and good causes.
This year's Swimarathon will be taking place at Thornbury Leisure Centre on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th March 2025 and we're hoping it will be bigger and better than ever before.
The Swimarathon is open to everyone. Teams take part from all walks of life, Cubs & Brownies, Beavers and Scouts, Junior and Senior Schools, Charity organisations, Golfers, Runners, Theatre groups and those who love swimming, young and ....not so young. It really is a fun event.
The format for the event is that teams of up to 6 people swim, in relay, as many lengths as possible in 50 minutes.
Please note that the start times will be on the hour each day, i.e.6pm, 7pm and 8pm on Friday, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on Saturday
Our two headline charities this year are: Friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and Thornbury and District Stroke Support Group, along with other good causes. So many of us will know someone, a friend or family member, who has been affected by either a stroke or cancer. These two organisations provide wonderful support to those affected in this way.
The Panache Steel Band will be with us again, supporting the swimmers, on both dates. They create the unique atmosphere that everyone seems to enjoy.
We are grateful to our prime business sponsors Perennial Wealth for their support of the Thornbury Rotary Swimarathon 2025
More details, including more entry forms and opportunity to book your lanes, (first come first serve, though) can be found on Rotaryās website:
